Farmhouse Floral Buffet
This Jacobean style buffet was given new look after it was previously painted black. It was first stripped down using Green EZ Remove Furniture Stripper which is a soy based, non-caustic stripper that works amazingly well! After a good cleaning and sanding, I then primed the body of the buffet with Wise Owl Paint Stain Eliminating Primer in White but left the legs bare, even leaving some of the original stain on the legs for a rustic look. I did two coats of primer with 2 hours between coats and then waited 24 hours before starting my paint coat of One Hour Enamel. It’s recommended to wait 2-4 hours between coats to let the primer cure which will allow the primer to effectively block stains and tannins. This buffet was made with cherry veneer which typically produces strong tannin bleed through so I wanted overnight to let the primer do its best work. For this buffet I used One Hour Enamel in Antique Villa. Antique Villa is my favorite white in Wise Owl’s line up as it is the perfect soft white without pulling any gray or cream undertones. This color served as a great base for the Cosmic Roses transfer by reDesign by Prima. Rather than center the transfer, I cut it apart in sections and applied on the edges of the piece and wrapped it around the side. Lastly I applied Wise Owl Furniture Salve to the legs to seal and restore the color of the wood.
